The story behind our name
A name with deep African roots.
Cush is the English Bible spelling of Kush, the ancient kingdom of Nubia along the Nile in what is now northern Sudan and southern Egypt. Its history reaches back more than 2,000 years, from the kingdom centred on Kerma to the later capitals of Napata and Meroe.

For Cush, the name reflects African origin, long-distance exchange and trusted stewardship. It is an expression of what the name means to our founder; it does not claim a proven historical link between ancient Kush and Ghanaian ancestry.
